Three Area Players Named To 4a Team

The Class 4A high school boys' and girls' basketball All-State teams were announced Thursday by the Florida Sports Writers Association.

On the boys' side, Sherman Steele of Jupiter was named to the second team. Steele averaged 14.3 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Warriors. Cardinal Gibbons guard Darrance Gillion was named honorable mention. Gillion averaged 14.9 points and 4.2 assists during the regular season.

For the girls, Nina Panebianco from Jupiter was named honorable mention.

First team: Marlyn Bryant, G, 6-3, Jr. Leesburg; Antonio Lawrence, G, So., Jacksonville Andrew Jackson; Willie Williams, G, 6-2, Jr., Lake Wales; Terrance Christian, C, 6-8, Sr., Lake Wales; Ryan Dickey, G, 5-10, Sr., New Smyrna Beach.
