LEESBURG - The Girl Jackets face Rockledge tonight at 7 in the AAA State Semifinals at Stetson University in Deland.
Leesburg carries a 14-3 record into the tournament as it comes off an impressive regional win against Tampa Catholic.
The Jackets are led by Diane McDowell and Bonnie Miller, both sporting an 18 point game average with McDowell pulling down 24 rebounds in the Tampa Catholic win.
This is the first year that Leesburg has fielded a girls basketball team in over 20 years.
Coach Betty Crenshaw had to start with the very basic fundamentals since most of the girls had never played basketball before.
